ABOUT US

About Angamaly NRI Association

Angamaly NRI Association is one of the largest expatriate organizations in the UAE, engaged in various social and welfare activities for the last three years. The association consists of large number of members from Angamaly Municipality and twelve adjacent panchayats. Association functions as a common platform for natives from Angamaly region to promote socio-cultural and charitable activities for the welfare of the members and their family. The Association operates through various forums such as legal Cell, Job Cell, Women Cell, and Charity Fund and through its liaison office at Angamaly.

Angamaly NRI association is formed with a mission to stand by the expatriates in general and our members in particular. We realise that our organisation’s existence will be justified only when our activities reach our fellow companions who lives in the labour camps and work in the basic employment sectors across UAE. We are dedicated to serve those majorities of expatriates in the Arabian Gulf who are deprived of the amenities which a small minority enjoys.

Liaison Office

As part of our ongoing efforts to extent maximum possible help to expatriate kerelites in general and our members and their families in particular, we have opened a liaison office in Angamaly. It is intended to extend our services to the grass root level. It is aimed to work as a contact point for members and their families in U.A.E and in Kerala and to provide our services with out delay. At present it functions in the premises of Global Tours and Travels, Aluva Road, Angamaly.

Legal Cell/ Help Cell

The prime motto of Angamally NRI Association is to extend helping hand to the members. We are in a country away from our home land where the mutual cooperation and help is extremely important. More relevant is the guidance and advice on legal matters to the members who are working in different employment sectors. Particularly the people belonging to the low income group are more exposed to exploitation and ill treatment.

The ignorance of the law of the country and the lack of knowledge about the ways and means to resolve the legal issues makes things more complicated. Keeping this situation in mind, Angamaly NRI Association has set up a help cell which is intended to provide legal guidance and advice to members. A panel of prominent legal experts in the Emirate has offered free legal advice to the Association.

Also we have plan to extend the scope of the help cell to give guidance to members on their financial matters as well. Many of the expatriates jump into trouble and lose their savings which they had earned from their life long hard work. We expect that the help cell can provide them expert advice on such issues.

We hope the members will be benefited a lot from this Endeavour. Advocate Poulose Vallooran, who is a founder member of the association, is the Convener of the legal cell.

Job Cell

Arabian Gulf has always been the most attractive employment sector for keralites. Due to the fascination towards gulf, many people have been cheated by unscrupulous recruiting agencies. There are many young keralites who takes the risk of coming on visit visa to find a job. Due to the unsecured nature of the employment sector of the region, there are many who lose their job and struggling to find a new job. Also there are confident job hunters who look for change in the present employment as part of career betterment.

In this circumstance, Angamaly NRI Association has set up a job cell to help the job seeking members of the Association. It aims at circulating information among members about job availability. To help members in finding suitable placement is also the objective of job cell. The job cell functions by giving opportunity to the employment providers to notify job vacancies in the web site of our association. Also it gives opportunity to the job seekers to post their credentials. We make job related information to the members through the internal communication channels of the organization, with the help of panchayath coordinators.

Charity Fund

Gulf Malayalee has always been seen as elite class who lives in the heaven on earth. Average keralite always look at them with pride. This perception has been created by the keralite who goes on vacation. While on vacation, average keralite lead a luxurious life style. Even those who belong to the low income group also are trying to imitate his rich neighbour, which is far beyond his reach.

In reality, majority of the expatriates does not save any thing even after years’ long hard work in the gulf. Most of the expatriates are the only earning member of the family. When some unfortunate events like death or serious illness happen to him, his family will be thrown in to a pathetic situation.

Keeping this in mind our association has set up a charity fund. This fund has been set up accepting donations from members and well wishers. Also we conduct fund raising campaign for this purpose. We were able to extend our help to the deceased members of our association during the last three years. We are planning to extend the scope of this fund to areas such as education, marriage, medical treatment etc of the deserving family members of the association.
